The Timecode Audio Player plays an audio file and displays a frame-accurate timecode for synchronisation during video editing. You only need to briefly point the display of your device to the recording camera while starting playback. When editing you simply have to enter the timecode. This saves a lot of time when editing music videos.

For example to achieve double the frame rate you must set the playback to "2x". However you can also make these settings during recording according to the high frame rate settings on your digital camera. You may now be thinking that the synchronisation is done automatically by my editing programme. But while most editing programmes today have many options for automatic audio synchronisation based on the audio tracks unfortunately this does not always work. The alternative to a long search and trial and error in the editing programme is the Timecode Audio Player.

In the following cases time-consuming manual synchronisation was previously necessary and the Timecode Audio Player saves a lot of time:

1) Distance: when the audio source is further away from the camera resulting in poor or no sound in the recording.

2) No microphone: The absence of a built-in microphone or there is no microphone available. E.g. when using drones that cannot record sound/audio.

3) Background noise: E.g. the volume of drones whose rotor noise drowns out the sound. An environment with strong background noise. It is then sufficient for the musician/artist to carry the smartphone with the app and listen/sync to the music.
Music. This eliminates the need to set up and use large equipment. Even just in-ears for the singer would work.

4) Repetitions of song parts: When a short piece of music/audio is recorded the automatic synchronization fails to find the right place in the song. For example if the first and second chorus sound the same".

The time code can be set to standard base frame rates (23.98 24 25 29.97 30 48 50 59.94 and 60fps). Of course you can crank your camera to different rates and adjusting the playback speed in our app. For example for high speed shootings when the singer has to sing quicker during recording.


Recommendations:
Connecting a loudspeaker via the audio output of the smartphone enables louder playback.

Using a Bluetooth connection to the speaker is not recommended as this may cause an unpredictable delay.

For optimal frame accurate playback it is recommended to close other apps on your smartphone before starting the Timecode Audio Player.


Using the app:

I) On set
1) Load the desired audio track via the ""+"" button.
2) Set the frame rate of the camera.
3) Hold the display visibly in the camera image.
4) Start playback with timecode in the app and then the camera.

II) Post-processing
1) Enter the timecode of the recorded clip in a block of ten. If necessary
set the in-point of the clip so that the timecode is already running and can be read.
