1 Muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude; que Israel o repita:
2 Muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude mas jamais conseguiram vencer-me.
3 Passaram o arado em minhas costas e fizeram longos sulcos.
4 O Senhor é justo! Ele libertou-me das algemas dos ímpios.
5 Retrocedam envergonhados todos os que odeiam Sião.
6 Sejam como o capim do terraço que seca antes de crescer
7 que não enche as mãos do ceifeiro nem os braços daquele que faz os fardos.
8 E que ninguém que passa diga: Seja sobre vocês a bênção do Senhor; nós os abençoamos em nome do Senhor!
1 Many times they oppressed me from my youth; let Israel repeat it:
2 They have often oppressed me since my youth but they have never succeeded in overcoming me.
3 They put the plow on my back and made long furrows.
4 The Lord is righteous! He has delivered me from the handcuffs of the wicked.
5 Let all who hate Zion turn back ashamed.
6 Be like the grass of the terrace which dries before it grows
7 Who does not fill the hands of the reaper nor the arms of him that makeeth the burdens.
8 And let no one passing by say Let the blessing of the Lord be upon you; we bless you in the name of the Lord!
