Fue Sacerdote y el primer traductor de las Sagradas Escrituras en Hispanoamérica. Tradujo la Biblia a partir de la Septuaginta (Antiguo Testamento en griego) la Biblia usada por las primeras comunidades cristianas.

El Primer Testamento se publicó en 1928 quedando inédito el Antiguo Testamento hasta 1992 año en que fue publicada la Biblia completa.
